FLAG Bedford is a user-led charity for people with physical/sensory and or learning disabilities and their carers. Our aim is to combat social isolation, loneliness, and low self-esteem, so often experienced by people with disabilities, by holding regular social afternoons, subsidized events, and coach trips and encouraging members to use their skills within the group and out in the community. 4 of the 4 Trustees including the Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer and Secretary are disabled. We have a social afternoon most Thursday afternoons and arrange six events/trips a year. Transport is often difficult and expensive for people with disabilities so FLAG will arrange for volunteers who drive to transport members or arrange for a taxi and will pay the first £20 per event. We also seek volunteers to help at events, day trips, and weekly meet-ups.
