There are a number of sources of information available to organisations in Bedfordshire regarding Safeguarding.
Here are some suggestions:
- National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC) offers advice on what organisations need to do to protect children from harm. NSPCC Safeguarding Children is an excellent starting point. They offer a free online tool for organisations working with children and young people, with checklists and resources to help you safeguard children. They also offer guidance on writing a safeguarding policy.
- Community Voluntary Services has some general Safeguarding advice within the Supporting area of their website. They can also help with policy and procedure writing - contact Jane Owen 01234 354366, or complete a contact enquiry form.
- Bedford Borough Safeguarding Children Board has an independent chair and is made up of local multi agency representatives including Children’s Social Care, Health, Police, Probation and the Voluntary Sector. The role of the Board is to ensure that local agencies provide the best possible services for safeguarding the children and young people of Bedford Borough. They also give guidance on what to do if you are worried about a child in Bedford Borough.
- Central Bedfordshire Safeguarding Children Board also has an independent chair and is made up of local multi agency representatives including Children’s Social Care, Health, Police, Probation and the Voluntary Sector. The role of the Board is to ensure that local agencies provide the best possible services for safeguarding the children and young people of Central Bedfordshire. They also give guidance on what to do if you are worried about a child in Central Bedfordshire.
- Pan Bedfordshire Local Safeguarding Children Boards Training Unit has an excellent range of e-learning available. Further details of how to access these are found at our Training Page.
