Volunteer Opportunities at Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre
Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre is looking for new members to join their friendly refreshments team.
The role involves:
- Welcoming customers and showing them to tables
- Taking and serving orders from the menu including hot & cold drinks, sausage rolls, homemade cakes & scones, cream tea and ice cream.
- Clearing tables
- Taking cash & card payments
- Washing up
- Clearing up at the end of the day
- Helping with other duties as required
Shifts are 10:30 – 1:30 and 1:30 – 4:00 Wednesday – Saturday with the opportunity to do a whole day if preferred.
Food Hygiene Certificate Level One and other training provided. Travel expenses are reimbursed.
The role is a great opportunity to gain catering experience, develop inter-personal skills and meet new people from across the country too!
Ridgmont Station Heritage Centre is easily accessible from Bedford via the Marston Vale Line (Bedford – Bletchley). The hourly train services call at Ridgmont Station adjacent to the Heritage Centre. There are also hourly bus services from Ampthill & Flitwick calling at the Heritage Centre.
Alternatively there is a free car park on the opposite side of the railway line.

- Museum Guides
- Helping with odd jobs in and around the building
- Helping ‘behind the scenes’ with research, cataloguing exhibits and preparing exhibitions
