Volunteer with CLI and help to transform lives
If you are reading this – thank you. Please do not stop! We need you!
Volunteering with CLI's SAMAS project (Support, Advice, Mentoring, and Advocacy Service) is a powerful way to give back to your community, supporting individuals on their recovery journeys and empowering them to achieve their full potential – your efforts will make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Who are we and what we do?
We are CLI – Community Led Initiatives, a non-profit, community interest company. We have been helping people to change their lives through 1-2-1 mentoring and support groups since 2013. We are one of the leading Lived Experience Recovery Organisations in the country. We support people in recovery from addiction, ex-offenders who want to break the cycle of reoffending, people who are (or are at risk of) homeless and people who are struggling with mental health issues.
As an organisation we inspire the people we work with to believe in their potential for change, we support them to overcome both practical and emotional barriers which are preventing them from moving forward in their lives and when our work is done, we then signpost them onto other pathway opportunities.
Who can apply and what would be required of you?
Are you someone driven by a desire to make a real impact? If you are enthusiastic about creating societal change, motivated, and want to give back, we have a place for you. We welcome applications from people who have lived experience of the issues in which the people we support are trying to overcome (addiction/recovery; offending/rehabilitation; homelessness; mental health).
Some ways you can help include:
- Peer Advocate: provide mentoring support and guidance to someone in recovery.
- Group Facilitator: lead or support recovery-focused groups and workshops.
- Administrative Support: keep our services running smoothly behind the scenes.
- Social Media Volunteer: help us spread the word and raise awareness about CLI’s mission through creative content.
All we ask from our volunteers is that they are able to commit a minimum of 4 hours per week of their time.
