Green Flag Awards in Bedfordshire and Luton

03 August 2022

Green Flag Awards have been made for 2022 and it is great to see parks and open spaces across Luton, Central Bedfordshire and Bedford Borough being recognised as amongst the best in the country once again.

Where would we have been these last couple of years without these havens of peace and tranquility?

Outdoor spaces have become so important to us as a safe place to meet up or escape to. They provide opportunities for relaxation, education, exercise and their shade offers a welcome place to cool down during a heat wave.

Read more about which ones have received awards this year:

We are proud to know that volunteers play a big role in helping with activities that make these places as special as they are.

Perhaps you would like to help? You could start by engaging in a one-off activity such as joining a litter pick, or if you are able, offer a more regular commitment. Your support will be greatly appreciated by the local councils and organisations maintaining our parks and spaces.

Use the search facility on Simply Connect to find opportunities near you. Try the following search keywords:  Luton Borough Council, The Conservation Volunteers (or TCV), The Greensand Trust, and Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs & Northants.

You can also offer to volunteer at your local park or green space by signing with local councils at:

  • Luton Council: Use Simply Connect as described above, to find all the available opportunities.
  • Central Bedfordshire Council’s People-Projects-Partnerships: Complete the getting involved form.
  • Bedford Borough Council: Contact volunteering@bedford.gov.uk

If you cannot find what you are looking for, give us a call on 01234 354366 and we will do our best to help you out.
