Volunteering brings great rewards and you can view the full range of opportunities through our Simply Connect Opportunity Search where you can register as a volunteer and apply for any of the posts mentioned here, or select from others on offer.

Why not sign up to our monthly Volunteer Newsletter which will bring you all the new opportunities as well as volunteering stories and tips to help you find the role that is right for you?

Little Sweet Peas Playgroup Helper

Bedford & District Cerebral Palsy Society is looking for volunteers to play with  0-5 year olds with various disabilities and medical needs, to enable parents/carers to have some respite and a chance to meet and chat with others. Little Sweet Peas runs monthly on Thursday mornings in Biggleswade.

JJ's Crew Youth Club Helper

Bedford & District Cerebral Palsy Society is looking for volunteers to help at a teenage youth club for young people aged 13 to 17. JJ's Crew is a lively youth club offering teenagers a chance to spend quality time together learning new things and having fun at the same time. JJ's takes place on the fourth Saturday of every month at Biggleswade.

Recovery Group support Volunteer

An opportunity to support individuals who are in recovery from alcohol and substance misuse by managing, coordinating, supervising and supporting individuals with their recovery within a group setting.  You will be fully trained and supported by Community Led Initiatives.

Mentor for recovering drug/alcohol users (Central Bedfordshire)

You will be mentoring adults with drug and alcohol issues who have reached a point in their recovery where they are motivated to make positive changes in their lives, providing practical support and constructive activities to help clients of Community Led Initiatives to make positive lifestyle changes. Each mentor/client relationship is unique -  the approach is 'person-centred'. You will receive training for the role and be a critical part of the team.

Good Neighbours Call Handler (Eaton Bray)

Take your turn to have a helpline mobile phone for the day, answer calls from clients and arrange help from a volunteer who will be able to help the caller. It is possible to fit this around other responsibilities in the day and your involvement will be a valuable kindness of neighbourliness.

Van Crew for IMPAKT Housing & Support

You will be alongside driver and other van crew, carrying out collections and deliveries of furniture and white goods to customer homes and moving furniture in and out of the warehouse as well as assisting in house moves and offering a high level customer service.

NCT Volunteers (Biggleswade & Sandy)

You can be flexible about where and when to volunteer with National Childbirth Trust. You will be helping to organise events and activities to support local parents.  A great way to meet new people you don't have to be a parent, although the roles are family friendly, you just need up to a couple of hour a week to spare.

Blogger for Panacea Museum

Put your flair for writing to use with the Panacea Museum.  You will liaise with the volunteer manager, visiting the museum from time to time and researching and writing blogs for the museum website.

Soccer School Coach /Assistant Coach

Shortstown Rangers FC would like to engage enthusiastic dedicated volunteers with a love of football to be coach and assistant to their soccer school children. No previous experience necessary. Full support, guidance and mentoring through the FA training will be given.

Grounds Person (mowing) (Old Warden)

You will need to be able to drive a tractor to volunteer as mower for The Shuttleworth Trust within the stunning surroundings of Old Warden Park. You will be responsible for maintaining the Parkland, paddocks and airfield, assisting the Grounds team to keep the grounds presentable, fit for purpose purpose and ready to welcome visitors to air shows & other events.

Thomas Pocklington Trust is looking for someone to join their Sight Loss Council and draw from their experience to help represent the voice of blind and partially sighted people in the key areas of employment and skills, health and wellbeing, and inclusive community.
