Make life easier for unpaid family carers
Volunteering with Carers in Bedfordshire
By offering your help, you can make life a little easier for the many unpaid family carers throughout Bedfordshire. Our charity is here to help adults and young carers through the tough times with one-to-one and wellbeing support, information and advice and opportunities to connect with other carers.
Volunteers help alongside staff in a wide range of roles. We offer flexibility and a friendly supportive environment with an opportunity to grow into your role. Here are some of the roles you can apply for through Simply Connect. Follow the links to find out more and register an interest:
We offer carers an extensive programme of workshops, events and groups. Can you list these on our website, handle the bookings, confirm details with the organisers and collect feedback? You'll be working with our Events Organiser to make sure everything goes smoothly.
You'll be using your IT and communication skills and working in a small, friendly team on a flexible hours basis.
We offer short-term person-centred counselling for carers - face to face, by phone or video. We are looking for qualified counsellors who will gently encourage carers to talk about what’s going on for them and help identify how to change or manage things in a different way going forward. You will not give direct advice or opinions.
We offer counselling to carers aged 11+ and can also support former carers. We make a small charge for this service.
The navigation service is a helpline for people living with dementia or memory concerns, and for people who care for someone with these conditions.
You will be providing telephone support 2 hours per week and proactively calling people with dementia, people with memory concerns, and also carers of people with these conditions. These calls will be to signpost callers to various services, offer information, support and listen. You will be required to take information to register callers and make review calls to those who are already registered.
Our team of Early responders listen to carers who register with us to find out what support they need.
Your help in working out what help they need, using our assessment method, will assist us to identify those carers in most need and those who can benefit from our groups, training and other programmes.
This volunteer role is ideal for anyone who has a background in telephone support or information, advice or guidance. We are looking for a half day commitment a week or a fortnight to add to our rota of reliable and trained volunteers. We supply training to help you learn about the charity and this service and to meet other members of the Early Responder team.

We currently have nearly 300 opportunities in volunteering across Bedfordshire listed with us.
