Volunteering: One Housing Group
There are several positions available for volunteers who would like a role in helping to support the customers of One Housing Group in Bedford and Luton.
One Housing Group offers supported living homes and outreach services, helping vulnerable people to re-build their lives, through building skills, self-confidence and self-esteem so that they can reach their full potential and play an active part in their wider community.
If you can devote at least two hours of support a week, they would like to hear from you – whatever your experience you will be trained and supported in the role.
You will be asked to attend a two stage interview process. The first interview will be with the Customer Partnerships Manager. The second will be with the Team Manager in whose service you will be placed. This is an informal interview, giving you an opportunity to see the service, meet the team manager and understand the role before committing to volunteering. If you have any reservations, we will be happy to find another placement.
The roles that the One Support services are currently looking to fill are:
Administrator - providing administrative support to One Support staff such as assisting with the duty desk, liaising with staff and external agencies, data input, maintaining customer records and general administrative duties.
Befriender - Befrienders will meet with the customer on a regular basis either for a chat in their home or to share a social activity, such as walking, attending museums, art galleries, cinema, etc. The activities will be agreed with the customer, Support Officer and volunteer beforehand. You will be helping to address social isolation and loss of confidence and building motivation.
Group Activity Volunteer - providing support to One Support staff and services when facilitating group activities with vulnerable customer groups. Group activities may include: arts and crafts, women’s/men’s groups, life skills, literacy and reading groups, coffee mornings.
