Volunteering: Get back into retail at Wood Green Animal Shelter
Whilst the Wood Green Animal Centres are still closed to the public, the Animal Charity Shops are now starting to re-open and there are opportunities in retail for volunteers.
Volunteers can give their time to help the well loved charity that offers support to those with pets, and the rehoming of pets; and at the same time they will gain some valuable retail experrience.
For just a few hours of your time each week you have the chance to*
- add meaningful and respected content to your CV
- earn a reference for future job applications
- complete an NVQ in Retail from Derby University
- learn new skills and gain experience
- become part of a friendly, diverse & committed team
- wear a uniform
- help animals in need
* depending on the role applied for.
There are opportunities for:
- anyone who truly loves books - maybe you are interested in first editions, enjoy researching unusual histories, or are passionate about illustrations. The book specialist role should suit you;
- anyone with an interest and knowledge of clothing and fashion, and a keen interest in retail. The fashion volunteer role should suit you;
- Anyone who likes to help others and develop skills in customer service. If you are happy in a busy environment and serving lots of different people, and would like to operate the till, the till operator role should suit you;
- Anyone who is keen to promote volunteering and engage with the local community so that more people can volunteer. If you can build lasting relationships and commuicate well through word of mouth, the role of volunteer recruiter should suit you;
- Anyone who would like to get stuck in to the practical role of sorting and pricing donations, preparing them for the shop floor, maintaining stock and serving customers. The role of retail sales assistant should suit you.
