Bedford Borough Council Early Help Conference

Bedford Borough Council is holding its ‘Early Help Conference 2018’ entitled "Emotional well-being, a shared responsibility", on Tuesday 13 March 2018, at Kings House, Ampthill Road, Bedford, The event runs from 9.30am - 4.30pm.

This is an exciting opportunity to hear from 3 excellent keynote speakers, the voice of a young person and attend 2 of 4 informative workshops delivered by members of the Bedford Borough Early Help Team.

The Key note speakers will be:

  • Giles Barrow. Giles has written numerous publications on the theme of pastoral care, relational aspects of teaching and learning, behaviour management and educational leadership.
  • Dr John Coleman. John is a psychologist whose primary interest is adolescence. He is the Founder of the Trust for the Study of Adolescence (now renamed Young People in Focus)
  • Dr Graeme Lamb. Graeme has been working in psychiatry in East London for over 20 years. He is a Consultant in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry in East London NHS Foundation Trust (ELFT).

Workshops Available:

  • Evidence based delivery: The rationale behind evidence based practice with examples of what we deliver within the early help offer.
  • Mental Health & Y/P: An exploration into the world of evidence based mental health Interventions for children and young people.
  • Parenting: An in depth look at parenting support in Bedford Borough and how this supports the well being of children young people and their families.
  • Vulnerabilities: What are the factors that make people vulnerable and how do we support people to become resilient to these vulnerabilities? This will include Domestic Abuse, Child Sexual Exploitation & Youth Violence.

Luton All Women's Centre have a maternity cover vacancy for a domestic abuse support worker. The post will be for up to 12 months duration, based in Luton town centre with a salary of £22,00-£24,000 pro-rata.
